Microchip Clinic

Keep your peace of mind if Fluffy sneaks out the door or Rover gets off his leash–have them microchipped! Cost is $30 per pet and includes the cost of the microchip (AVID brand) and registration.  No appointment is necessary–first come, first serve basis.

Microchips are the only permanent form of identification available for pets.  A microchip is a tiny computer chip that is about the size of a grain of wild rice, and contains a unique code of letters/numbers that are registered to an owner in a nationwide database.  The microchip is inserted under the skin, between the shoulder blades, of an animal with a hypodermic needle.  Once inserted, the animal can be permanently identified for the rest of it’s life, with the use of a scanner that can read the chip.  In the FM area, all vet clinics, pounds and shelters, including ours, have scanners that can read the chips.  This means if your pet is lost, there is a much higher chance of being reunited with them than with just a collar and tags alone.

If you have questions in regards to microchipping or our microchip clinics, please contact us at info@humanesocietyfargomoorhead.org.
